Over time there has been much confusion about considered one of Belle Isle's many institutions: the Casino. this is not a gambling casino, but uses that old sense of the word, an area for "public entertainments." This Casino has been used for this purpose since the original structure was internal the 1880s, becoming a gathering area for Detroiters for generations.
The first building to be called the Casino was integrated 1887, as Belle Isle was being become a municipal park. It was constructed more info to carry events, bazaars, and things of that nature, which its successor was created to do also. The original building burnt down during the early 1900s.
The original building was replaced in 1907 using a building developed by the firm of Van Leyen and Schilling. This building has continued to serve its function successfully for more than 10 years now, and its future seems being secure well in the future, in spite of the problems that Belle Isle has had in recent years.
